Group Study Spots in El Paso: A Solana Playbook for Four
Good group study spots in El Paso are hard to find, and they are even harder to hold. One person can study almost anywhere. However, four people need a table that fits, a fast way to order, and a quiet hour. So we wrote a playbook for a group of four at our kiosk inside The Shoppes at Solana. It covers the tables, the order, the student discount and a ninety-minute plan.
Group study spots in El Paso: the short answer
Group study spots in El Paso: why groups lose the first twenty minutes
A study group rarely starts on time. First, four people arrive at four different times. Next, they order one by one. Then they hunt for a table that seats them all. So twenty minutes are gone before anyone opens a book.
However, each of those steps has a fix. Therefore, pick the table before you come, and settle the order before you arrive. Our guide to the best Westside study coffee shop covers the solo version of this plan.

The table below sums up the playbook.
| Trait | What it means | Where it comes from | What you notice |
|---|---|---|---|
| The tables | Shared tables near the kiosk that fit small groups. | The shopping center | Seats are first come, first served, so send one person early. |
| The fast order | One DoorDash pickup order with everyone's drinks. | Our ordering path | You skip the line. However, the discount does not apply. |
| The discount order | Each student orders at the counter and shows an ID. | Our October offer | You save 10 percent each, and then you wait your turn. |
| Quiet windows | Weekday mornings after opening, and mid-afternoons. | What we see from the counter | The group can talk without shouting. |
| The session | Ninety minutes, in three parts. | Our suggested plan | You finish with energy left. So you agree to meet again. |
| The coffee | Puerto Rican coffee with a smooth body and low acidity. | Imported from Puerto Rico and roasted in El Paso | Chocolate and caramel notes, such as in a plain latte. |

Coffee near White Horse Statue →One DoorDash pickup order for the whole group
Can one person order for the group on DoorDash? Yes. Place one pickup order with everyone's drinks. Then pick it up at the kiosk in front of the White Horse Statue.
- Collect the orders. First, ask each person for a drink and a size in the group chat.
- Place one order. Next, one person adds all four drinks and chooses pickup.
- Settle up. Then the group pays that person back.
So this is the fast way to order coffee for a group on DoorDash. However, the student discount does not apply there. Our post explains coffee delivery in El Paso.
Everyone gets the discount: how it works at the kiosk
Does everyone get the student discount? Each student who shows a valid ID at the kiosk gets 10 percent off their drink. So for the discount, the group orders in person.
Here is how to do that for four. First, walk up together. Next, each person orders and shows an ID. Then we take 10 percent off each drink. For example, take two 12 ounce hot lattes at $4.00 each, a 16 ounce iced chai at $4.50, and a Red Bull Charger at $5.50. That is $18.00 on the menu, so $16.20 with four IDs, before tax.
So which way should you order? If time is tight, use DoorDash. If the budget is tight, order at the counter. Either way, the drinks are the same.
The quiet windows for group work
A group makes noise, so pick a time when that is fine. Weekday mornings after we open and mid-afternoons are the calmest windows. However, Friday and Saturday evenings are the busiest.
Also, keep our hours in mind. We open at 8am Monday to Saturday and at 11am on Sunday. We close at 8pm Monday to Thursday, at 9pm on Friday and Saturday, and at 6pm on Sunday. If you need a UTEP study group spot, our guide covers coffee near UTEP El Paso.
A ninety-minute group session that actually works
Long group sessions drift. So keep it to ninety minutes, and split it in three.
- Minutes 1 to 10. First, agree on the goal. For example, pick two chapters or one problem set.
- Minutes 10 to 70. Next, work. Each person takes a section and then teaches it to the rest.
- Minutes 70 to 90. Finally, quiz each other, and set the next meeting.
Also, time the coffee. Caffeine late in the day can get in the way of sleep, and you can read about it at the sleep research site at sleepfoundation.org. Our post on how to study smarter with coffee has more tips.
Spring registration opens October 26: plan it together
When does spring registration open at UTEP? It opens October 26, 2026, according to the UTEP Registrar calendar. So a group that works well can plan a class together. We are a coffee kiosk, not the university. Therefore, confirm the date on the academic calendar at the university site at utep.edu.
