Non-Coffee Drinks at a Coffee Shop: What to Order This Fall
Good non-coffee drinks at a coffee shop can be hard to find, so we wrote down every one we serve. We are known for Puerto Rican coffee. However, not everyone who walks up to our kiosk drinks it. Maybe you do not like the taste, or maybe you are ordering for a friend. Either way, you should not have to settle for water. So below you will find chai, matcha, hot chocolate, Red Bull Chargers and more. Also, each one comes with its sizes, its prices and a fall build to try.
Non-coffee drinks at a coffee shop: the short answer
Non-coffee drinks at a coffee shop, for the one person who skips coffee
Every group has one. For example, it may be the friend who never liked coffee, or the kid who came along for the ride. Then the whole group orders, and that one person asks for water.
We think that person should get a good drink too. So our menu goes well past espresso. In fact, some of these drinks take the same syrups and sauces as our lattes. Therefore, you can build a fall drink with no coffee in it at all.
Non-coffee drinks at a coffee shop at a glance
The table below sums up the non-coffee menu, so you can choose before you reach the counter.
| Trait | What it means | Where it comes from | What you notice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chai latte | Spiced tea with milk, hot or iced. | Our menu, $3.50 to $5.50 | Warm spice, so it already tastes like fall. |
| Matcha latte | Green tea powder with milk, hot or iced. | Our menu, $4.50 to $6.00 | Smooth and green. However, a syrup can sweeten it. |
| Hot chocolate | A 10 or 12 ounce cup. | Our menu, $2.50 or $3.00 | Simple and sweet, and then richer with a sauce. |
| Red Bull Charger | A 16 ounce Red Bull drink in seven flavors. | Our menu, $5.50 | Cold and fruity, such as piña colada. |
| Cold drinks | Sodas, flavored Canadian water and bottled water. | Our menu, $1.50 to $2.50 | Quick to grab, so they suit a short stop. |
| Chocolate milk | A kid-friendly pick. | Our menu, $1.50 | Cold and sweet. So it is an easy yes for kids. |
Chai latte: sizes, prices and the toasted marshmallow build
How much is a chai latte? Hot chai is $3.50, $4.00 or $4.50 by size. Iced chai is $3.50, $4.50 or $5.50 by size. Also, hot sizes are 10, 12 and 20 ounces, and iced sizes are 12, 16 and 20 ounces.
So what is the fall build? Add Toasted Marshmallow syrup for 25 cents. For example, a 12 ounce hot chai with the syrup comes to $4.25. In fact, the spice and the toast go well together. If you searched for a chai latte in El Paso, start with this one.
Matcha latte: hot and iced, and how the syrups change it
How much is a matcha latte? Hot matcha is $4.50, $5.00 or $6.00 by size. Iced matcha is $5.00, $5.50 or $6.00. In short, matcha is a fine green tea powder, so the drink is smooth and a little earthy.
- With vanilla. A soft, sweet start. So it suits a first matcha.
- With lavender. Floral and light. Also, it works best iced.
- With white chocolate sauce. The richest build, for 50 cents.
- With oat milk. Then the drink turns creamy, for 50 cents.
So a matcha latte at Solana can be plain or dressed up. Each syrup is 25 cents.
Hot chocolate: mocha, caramel and white chocolate sauce
First, our hot chocolate is $2.50 for 10 ounces and $3.00 for 12 ounces. However, the sauces are where it gets fun. Specifically, each sauce adds 50 cents.
- Mocha sauce. More chocolate, so the cup gets deeper and darker.
- Caramel sauce. Sweet and buttery. Therefore, it tastes like a candy bar.
- White chocolate sauce. Creamy and mild. Also, add whipped cream for 50 cents.
For hot chocolate in El Paso this fall, try the 12 ounce cup with caramel sauce. In short, that comes to $3.50.
Red Bull Chargers: the seven flavors
What Red Bull Charger flavors do we have? We have seven, and each one is 16 ounces for $5.50, so the choice is only about flavor.
- Cream flavors. Coconut and cream, vanilla and cream, and strawberry and cream.
- Fruit flavors. Cherry coconut, piña colada, coconut and pineapple.
So the Red Bull Charger flavors lean tropical. Of course, an energy drink has caffeine. The FDA explains caffeine in drinks at the agency site at fda.gov. We also sell a plain Red Bull for $3.00.
Sodas, flavored water and chocolate milk for the kids
Of course, sometimes you just want something cold. So we keep a short list of grab-and-go drinks.
- Sodas. Dr Pepper, Coke and Diet Coke, for $2.00 each.
- Canadian water. Peach, raspberry, cherry and blackberry, for $2.50 each.
- Chocolate milk. $1.50, and a hit with kids.
- Bottled water. $1.50.
Also, pair any of these with a cookie or a muffin from the pastry case. Our post has more on drinks paired with sweet treats.
